History
and Pictures
After graduation,
continued working construction with my father while going to computer
schooling in Pittsburgh. Drew the number 25 in the draft so I enlisted
in the Navy in April 1967. Sent to Washington, DC and worked in
the Navy Yard and Pentagon while programming applications. Went
shipboard in 1969 thru 1971 and visited several eastern U.S. ports.
Patrolled the waters around Cuba and Haiti keeping track of the
Russian fleet during the cold war. Left the Navy in 1971 and tried
to find employment in the Pittsburgh area utilizing my computer
skills. No luck during the recession so packed up and took the wife
and newly born daughter (Pamela) to DC to work for the Navy as a
civilian programmer. Our second child, Michael was born in 1980.
Although the
name of our agency has changed several times, I have continued to
work for the Department of the Navy ever since. Started as a programmer
then migrated to a team leader and for several years have been a
manager or branch chief. We engineer state-of -the-art web applications
and web sites using Oracle and Microsoft tools. Worked on many satisfying
projects for the Bureau of Naval Personnel, White House, Pentagon,
National Response Center, Office of the Secretary of Defense and
some 3 letter intelligence agencies (that do not want their names
mentioned).
Pamela got her
BS degree from Frostburg State University, married and moved to
Phoenix, Az. While living there she went on to get her Masters Degree.
Pam and Robbie have a son William and are expecting a new arrival
in June 2006. They moved back to southern Maryland in October 2005
so we get to see them much more. We will miss the trips to the desert
and golf outings there but happy to have them here.
Michael is living
in Alexandria, Va. and is a store manager for a large ceramic tile
company. He attended the University of Maryland in the Smith School
of Business. I like to brag about his baseball days that covered
little league, high school and American legion ball. I managed Mike's
little league teams for ten years. When he was 12 -15 years old,
we won four straight state of Maryland titles, went to the eastern
regionals four times and made it to the World Series in Detroit
in 1993. We ended up 5th in the world but it was an experience we
will never forget.
Spent a few
years as a single man then remarried in 1995. Lisa McDade Bonnaure
is my wife of the last ten years and I hope that most of you get
the opportunity to meet her. She is a beautiful person and lady,
hardest worker I've ever known and just a joy to spend life with.
She has 3 Irish/Italian sons. Kyle recently graduated from West
Virginia U. as a chemical engineer and is working in Wheeling, WV.
Scott & Perry are both attending WVU as freshman. Lisa has a Masters
Degree from the U. of Maryland and is working on her doctoral degree
in Information Technology Management Information Systems. We enjoy
golf at our little country club in La Plata and beaching when the
opportunity arises. Cruising in our Corvette sometimes takes the
edge off the busy work week. We traveled to Hawaii and Germany recently
and keep busy working on the home we built 8 years ago on 6.4 acres
in the countryside of southern Maryland.
